Tournament Format

How many teams?

16 Teams will participate in the 1 day tournament. All players must be aged at least 16 on 12th August 2018.

What is the competition structure?

Each match will last 20 minutes. 10 minutes played on FIFA18 followed by 10 minutes on the futsal pitch.

The teams will randomly be split into 4 groups. Each team will play all other teams in their group. The top two teams will qualify for the winners knockout competition. The bottom two teams will be entered into the runners up knockout competition.

During the group stage, 3 points will be awarded for a win. 1 point will be awarded for a draw. In the event of a tie at the end of the group stages, goal difference will be used to determine the final position in the table. If the teams are still tied, the total number of goals scored will determine the final position in the table. If the teams are still tied, a coin toss will determine the final position in the table.

During the final, in the event of a tie, 5 minutes of extra time will be played. If the teams are still level a penalty shoot out will determine the winners.

What are the 5-a-side rules?

FIFA’s Futsal rules will be used during the 5-a-side matches. Devon FA referees will officiate all games.

What about FIFA18?

FIFA18 on the Xbox One will be used for the gaming half. Any club team can be selected. International teams are not permitted. The two players representing each team in each match will be submitted before the tournament begins. Games must be split equally amongst players. Players will have a maximum of 5 minutes to customise their controls and team set up prior to the start of the match. All players will use the controllers provided.

Legal bit

Before entering the tournament, players must sign an agreement to release their image and voice to be used by the production team and use on the live stream.

These rules may be refined during the build up of the event.
